Jack the Ripper - worst Britain of the last Millennium

'Jack the Ripper' has been voted the worst Briton of the last 1,000 years.

BBC History Magazine conducted a questionnaire on 5,000 people and ranked the 1880s gaslight killer as number one among the infamous 10 Britons.

Jack the Ripper (who was never caught) received 24 percent of the votes. 

The ranking of the Most Notorious 10 Britons 

1. 24% - Jack the Ripper (19th Century)

2. 11% - Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury (12th Century)

3. 9% - Eadric Streona (11th Century)

4. 9% - King John (13th Century)

5. 9% - Sir Richard Rich, Lord Rich of Leighs (16th Century)

6. 9% - Titus Oates (17th Century)

7. 9% - Duke of Cumberland (18th Century)

8. 8% - Hugh Despenser, The Younger (14th Century)

9. 8% - Thomas Arundel (15th Century)

10. 4% - Oswald Mosley (20th Century)
